Grantee Profile: Bridge of Blessings^® North Texas

Battling breast cancer gave Patricia Mello, a personal understanding of the financial struggles that so many people face when they are undergoing intense treatment and are unable to work.  Her experiences lead her to co-found Bridge of Blessings in 2004.

Bridge of Blessings provides temporary financial assistance to qualified individuals in North Texas who are undergoing treatment for breast cancer.  Many individuals, particularly those unable to work as they undergo treatment, face tremendous stress from financial burdens.  The goal of Bridge of Blessings is to eliminate this unnecessary hardship.

“We are one of the very few organizations in Texas that directly provides financial assistance to the patient in need,” says Patricia.  “Sometimes patients just need money to cover the rent. We want our clients to focus on getting better, not on how to make ends meet.”
Besides helping out with mortgage or rent, Bridge of Blessings helps qualifying individuals with food, utility bills, transportation and childcare costs.
