The Bridge Honors Susan G. Komen for the Cure^® North Texas

The Susan G. Komen for the Cure^® North Texas Affiliate was recently honored by The Bridge Breast Network (The Bridge) at their 2010 Bridge Builders Society Breakfast.

The North Texas affiliate joined the Dallas and Tarrant County in receiving two awards, the 2010 Advocacy Award for work in breast cancer advocacy and the Arch Society Awards for supporting The Bridge. The Headquarters for Susan G. Komen for the Cure® also received recognition.

The Bridge provides low income, uninsured and underinsured individuals access to diagnostic and treatment services for breast cancer. Their latest statistics show that over 45,000 women (and men) in 16 counties in North Texas received services in 2009. That’s nearly 4,000 individuals per month, an increase of 29 percent over 2008. Twenty-one of these individuals were teenagers with some as young as 13.

Since 1992 Komen North Texas has granted in excess of $2 million to The Bridge. In 2009 The Bridge was one of 12 organizations that received grant funds from Komen North Texas.
