6th Annual Survivors Brunch, Fashion Show and Grants Reception
More than 450 survivors of breast cancer and their supporters attended this past weekend's 6th Annual Survivors Brunch, Fashion Show and Grants Reception hosted by the North Texas Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.
The annual brunch is a celebration of survivors and includes a fashion show with survivor models and a grants presentation to those organizations in Collin, Denton and Grayson Counties that provide life saving breast cancer education, screening and treatment services. This year a total of $800,000.00 in grants was presented to eight different organizations.
The fashion show included a mother and daughter duo, Kristin Chetty and Diane Cargin, both of whom are survivors as well as husband and wife Fred and Harriett Gross, married for 30 years, who received their initial breast cancer diagnosis 2 and 26 years ago respectively. Fashions worn by the models were provided by local boutiques including Blinc and Melanie Gayle as well as Sports outfitters St. Bernard Sports and New Balance.
The annual brunch is an acclamation for survivors and is a testament to the outstanding efforts of researchers, physicians and organizations such as Susan G. Komen for the Cure® who have made tremendous progress in the fight against breast cancer.
