Major step in personalized treatment — Thanks to a 2007 research grant from Susan G. Komen for the Cure®,scientists identified a set of 50 genes that oncologists can potentially use to tailor individualized treatments for all breast cancer patients.

Survivor Program

Your Survivor Packet includes:

  • 2009 North Texas Race for the Cure t-shirt
  • Newly designed pink Survivor t-shirt
  • Newly designed pink Survivor cap
  • Pink Race bib with safety pins (required for you to gain access to the tent)
  • One guest wrist band (required for your guest to gain access to the tent)
  • Survivor Only parking pass

Survivor Schedule of Events

  • 6:30 a.m. Survivor Tent Open
  • 6:45 a.m. Survivor Breakfast Begins
  • 7:20 a.m. Begin Gathering for the Survivor Photo
  • 7:30 a.m. Survivor Photo
  • 8:00 a.m. Open Ceremonies Begin
  • 8:20 a.m. Aerobic Warm-Up
  • 8:30 a.m. 5K
  • 8:45 a.m. 1Mile
  • 9:00 – 9:15 a.m. Can add this later/change time when we determine who the guest will be: ??? will be in the Survivor Tent
  • 9:15 a.m. Begin Gathering for the Survivor Parade
  • 9:30 a.m. Survivor Parade and Closing Ceremonies Begin

Survivor Tent Area
Please join us in the Survivor tent sponsored by Alcatel-Lucent for various activities.

Door Prizes
Door prizes donated by various business and individuals will be on display. Names will be drawn based on registered survivors. Check the display boards to see if you won!

Survivor Expo
Various business have donated Breast Cancer information, brochures, etc. that will be available in the Survivor tent. Massages will be available for Survivors provided by ???. All About You will have items on display.

Survivor Breakfast
Join other Survivors for a complimentary breakfast. (will add in … sponsored by ??? … when we know for sure who it will be). You must be wearing your pink Survivor bib and your guest must be wearing the pink wrist band provided in your packet to gain access to the tent. Please note that no pets or unattended children will be allowed in the tent area.

Survivor Photo
We will gather to the left of the Survivor Tent for the traditional Survivor Race Day photo. Below is the photo from the 2009 Race for the Cure.

Recognition Parade and Closing Ceremony
The Closing Ceremony is the highlight of the day and opens with a Survivor parade to the stage area.

Recognizing Special People
We invite participants to recognize special people who have been touched by breast cancer. “In Memory of” and “In Celebration of” back signs will be available for all Race participants on Race Day in the Registration area.

Survivor Parking Pass and Golf Cart Taxis
Place parking pass that was included in your packet on your dash for admittance to the Survivor Parking Area. Survivor Only golf carts will be making the rounds to get you from the parking area to the Survivor tent, from the tent to the start line, and from the tent back to the parking area after the Closing Ceremony.
